Like most of you, I started out with just one Betta. You know the one...the little guy from the pet store that caught your eye because of the way he flipped his tail at you, or the one that looked at you with that "please take me home" look. From one to two, then three and four Bettas. Then before you knew it you had a whole wall of small tanks.I started to get the urge to breed my own Betta. After much research, I realized there is a lot I didn't know about Bettas splendens. From Betta tail types, to colours, to genetics, the wealth of information could make your head spin!
Books are great, but there is a fountain of knowledge available from fellow breeders and Betta lovers. I found the IBC (properly known as the International Betta Congress) and the BBC (the Betta Breeders Canada Yahoo group) were particularly helpful. With all of the help from fantastic Betta lovers out there, I was in Betta heaven!
